Product Description

What is Baclofen 10 mg?

Baclofen 10 mg Tablet is a muscle relaxant and antispastic used for treating spasms of skeletal muscles, muscle clonus, rigidity, and pain caused by multiple sclerosis.

Baclofen also helps the spinal cord to treat severe spasticity, spinal cord injuries, and other spinal cord diseases.

What is Use of Baclofen 10 mg?

Baclofen 10 mg tablets, USP are used to treat conditions of spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis, notably flexor spasms and associated discomfort, clonus, and stiffness of the muscles.

Patients should have reversible spasticity so that baclofen 10 mg treatment will aid in restoring residual function. Baclofen tablet, USP may also be of some value in patients with spinal cord injuries and other spinal cord diseases.

Baclofen 10 mg tablets are not indicated in the treatment of skeletal muscle spasms resulting from rheumatic disorders.

How Baclofen 10mg works?

Baclofen 10 mg tablet contains baclofen as an active ingredient and belongs to a class of drugs called muscle relaxers. A drug class is a group of medications that function in the same way. These medications are frequently used to treat similar illnesses.

Baclofen works to treat painful muscle spasms by blocking the signals from your nervous system that tell your muscles to spasm.

How should I use Baclofen 10 mg?

Take baclofen oral tablet by mouth as directed on the prescription label. Keep taking it unless your doctor tells you to stop. Stopping it suddenly can cause serious side effects.

Talk to your doctor about the use of this medication in children. While it can be prescribed for children as young as 12 years old for some diseases, there are some precautions to take.

Side Effects of Baclofen 10 mg:

  • Vomiting
  • Low blood pressure
  • Constipation
  • Confusion
  • Drowsiness
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Headache
  • Nausea

Dosage:

The combination of baclofen and tricyclic antidepressants may result in muscle weakness.

The use of baclofen and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) may result in greater depression of brain function as well as lower blood pressure.

Pregnancy:

Baclofen 10mg tablet should be used only as instructed by a doctor during pregnancy. Baclofen is excreted in breast milk. Before you start nursing, talk to your doctor.

Overdose:

Overdose symptoms include vomiting, muscle hypotonia, lethargy, accommodation problem, coma, respiratory depression, and convulsions.

What if I forget to take Baclofen 10 dose?

If you forget to take a dose of Baclofen Tablet, do so as soon as possible. If your next dose is approaching, take only that dose. Do not take a double or additional dose.

Warning:

Quickly drug withdrawal:

When baclofen was immediately stopped hallucinations and seizures occurred. As a result, unless there are major adverse events, the dose should be gradually reduced when the medicine is discontinued.

Kidney function impairment:

Because baclofen is mostly excreted unchanged through the kidney, it should be administered with caution, and the dose may need to be reduced.

Strokes:

Baclofen has not been found to improve stroke sufferers significantly. These patients also showed low medication tolerance.

Pregnancy:

Baclofen has been shown to increase the incidence of omphaloceles (ventral hernias) in rat fetuses by nearly 13 times the maximum human dose, at a dose that produced significant reductions in food intake and weight gain in dams. Rats and rabbits did not exhibit this anomaly.

Precaution:

Because of the risk of sedation, patients should be advised to avoid driving a car or using other risky machinery, as well as engaging in activities that are made riskier by reduced awareness. Patients should also be warned that the effects of baclofen on the central nervous system may be additive to those of alcohol and other CNS depression medications.

Baclofen should be used with caution in situations where spasticity helps to maintain upright posture and balance during locomotion or to gain greater function.

Clinical status and electroencephalogram should be examined at regular intervals in patients with epilepsy, as deterioration in seizure control and EEG has been documented in individuals using baclofen on occasion.

It is unidentified if this medication is excreted in human milk. Nursing should be avoided while the patient is on medicine since many medications dissolve in human milk.

In female rats chronically treated with baclofen, there was a dose-related rise in the prevalence of ovarian cysts and a less significant increase in enlarged and/or hemorrhagic adrenal glands.

Ovarian cysts were discovered in approximately 4% of MS patients treated with baclofen for a year. In most cases, the cysts resolved on their own while the patients continued to get the medicine. Ovarian cysts are estimated to affect 1% to 5% of the overall female population.

Usage in children:

Pediatric patients under the age of 12 have not been studied for safety or effectiveness.

  • Benzhydrocodone / acetaminophen
  • calcium/magnesium/potassium/sodium oxalate

What is baclofen 10 mg tablet used for?

Baclofen 10 mg muscle relaxer tablet is used to treat pain and certain types of spasticity such as muscle stiffness from multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and other spine issues.

Is Baclofen 10 mg daily safe?

Adults and children over 12 years of age are first advised to take a lower dose. Your doctor may increase your dose up to 5 mg every 3 days as needed and tolerated. However, the dose usually does not exceed 80 milligrams (mg) per day (20 mg four times a day).

Is Baclofen 10 mg a pain reliever?

No, baclofen is a muscle relaxer. While it can relieve pain caused by muscle spasms, it does not relieve pain caused by other things such as inflammation or nerve problems.

Is Baclofen bad for your kidneys?

Because of its low cost and low addiction potential, baclofen has been the preferred muscle relaxant for many years. This drug is metabolized in the kidney, posing a risk to patients with underlying renal dysfunction, with complications ranging from drug toxicity to death.

Can Baclofen raise blood pressure?

It is concluded that the increases in blood pressure and heart rate produced by high doses of baclofen are of central sympathetic origin.
